Russian State Military Historical Archive in Moscow created its own website only in 2013. This month the archive opened a new site section “Database of electronic inventories” with about 780 funds on its list.
The database includes inventories of Headquarters of Supreme Commander, armies, corps, divisions, some guards and infantry regiments. The funds cover mainly World War 1, however different periods noted for different funds (as far as early 1800s).
To perform the research you will need to know the exact regiment name. The inventories are in a scanned format in Russian. Search by surname is not possible at this stage.
